Kia ora! Today I'm going to tell you about what the importance is and the instructions for riding a bike. So I hope you enjoy this korero!

I tera wiki me and Te Puna Wairua went for a ride, the instructors were telling us the important instructions about checking a bike before riding the bike. The order was alphabetical so the letters were A.B.C.D.D.Q and those letters stand for…

Air - Test the air of the wheel before heading off.

Brakes - Make sure they work.

Chain - Make sure they're good to go.

Direction - Make sure it's straightened

Drop - To make it stable enough to ride.

Quick release - Make sure it's in so that your wheel doesn't come off.

After we did the check that our Kaiako Siva taught us, we went outside and did it on our own bikes, our instructors were JR, Joe, Seva and Hailey. After that we got put into groups and those two groups were Karearea, Kāhu (Hawk and Falcon). Then we went off to go learn some basics!

After that it was Kai iti, we all hung out with each other till we could go back to riding our bikes. After that we went to do something very exciting which was riding onto the busy road by Dunkirk. The checks were…

1. Check for any cars to see if any are coming.

2. Hop onto the bike.

3. Look once again.

4. Signal to show cars which way you are going.

5. Then look again and go.

After that we got into buddies but luckily the road wasn't that busy but I got buddied up with Lydia. After that we all finished at the end of the day, it was a really good experience because we got to learn so many things about eke pahikara.

Tuesday 18th May 2021

I tera wiki me and my whānau went on a hararei to Taupo and Rotorua. It was interesting because we went to a motel, it was fun first getting to the hot spring pool and it was nice because of how warm the pool was. After those two days we started packing to go to Rotorua! 

It was really long but when we did get to Rotorua there was a relaxing spa we could access too. So we spent most of the time but the next we got to go to a place where we could see a fast current which looked cool because when you looked at the water it looked like it was a lightish - blue colour after that we went to the urupa in Tauranga to see my great - koro. 

We went to Miranda to go see my Nanas Whānau, which was kinda cool cause during the road trip back she was telling us about how she used to look after the animals at the farm! She was also saying that she used to spend most of her time riding horses to the Miranda hot spring pool. After that we returned home.

I really enjoyed my hararei but then I didnt at the sametime because it was really boring without Te Puna Wairua but other than that it was really enjoyable because of everything we got to experience.

So right here is a trophy me and my buddy and we (TPW) has been having a competition to see who did the most blogs in during lockdown, sadly I lost but it was cool because it tells me that I should post more, it was called a blog battle and it was quite cool because even if we didn't win we still got a trophy!

So as we all know that we are stuck with the virus (covid-19) And so Te Puna Wairua has been writing on what we should do when we are outside, So our kaiako (whaea lee - ann) gave us a task which was about what we should do after lockdown.
